Golf in Sterling City

Sterling City is the county seat of Sterling County in west-central Texas, one of the smallest-population counties in the state, in the west Texas plains at the edge of the Permian Basin. The community is a small ranching settlement in the upper Colorado River drainage between San Angelo and Midland. Sterling County is one of the more remote and sparsely populated counties in Texas, with a tiny population centered on the county seat. The flat to gently varied terrain of the west Texas plains at roughly 2,300 feet elevation has mesquite, native grasses, and limited surface water in the semi-arid environment. The community is on the US 87 corridor between San Angelo and Big Spring. One course serves the Sterling City area in the west Texas plains terrain of Sterling County.
