Golf in Corsicana

Corsicana is the county seat of Navarro County in the Blackland Prairie of north-central Texas south of Dallas. The city is known for its early oil discovery—one of the first significant oil finds in Texas was made here in 1894 while drilling for water—and for Collin Street Bakery, which ships fruitcakes worldwide. Corsicana has a well-known downtown and serves as the commercial center for Navarro County's agricultural and industrial economy. The Blackland Prairie terrain of Navarro County has heavy black clay soils and flat to gently varied topography, with the Richland-Chambers Creek drainage providing some relief. Corsicana is on the I-45 corridor between Dallas and Houston, serving as a market and service center for the surrounding rural counties. One course serves Corsicana in the flat Blackland Prairie terrain.
