Munday is the county seat of Knox County in the northwest Texas plains, a small agricultural community on the North Fork of the Brazos River in the cotton-farming and ranching country of the area. Knox County is in the open plains country south of Wichita Falls, in the gently varied terrain of the northwest Texas plains with red clay soils and native grasses. The Brazos River's North Fork headwaters in this area, and the creek and river drainages provide some topographic relief in the otherwise flat plains terrain.
