Golf in Olney
1 golf course in Olney, Texas.
Olney is the county seat of Young County in the northwest Texas plains, a small agricultural community on the Clear Fork of the Brazos River. Young County's cattle ranching and oil production define its character, and Olney is the commercial center for a sparsely populated ranching county. The Clear Fork of the Brazos runs through Olney and connects the community to the broader Brazos River system that drains much of north-central Texas. Fort Belknap, a significant frontier Army post, was at the Clear Fork of the Brazos south of Olney and is preserved as a county museum. The gently varied terrain of the northwest Texas plains at roughly 1,200 feet elevation has red clay soils, mesquite, and native grasses. Olney is approximately 75 miles southwest of Wichita Falls. One course serves the Olney community in the open plains terrain of Young County.
