Golf in San Angelo

San Angelo is the county seat in west-central Texas and the largest city in the Concho Valley, serving as a regional hub for oil, agriculture, ranching, and the Angelo State University community. The Concho River runs through the city, and the Concho River Walk has been developed as a parks and trail system that threads through the downtown. Fort Concho, one of the well-preserved frontier forts in Texas, retains the early limestone buildings from the Army post era. The county has a diverse economy including sheep and Angora goat ranching, oil production, and the university. The community is approximately 90 miles south of Abilene and 220 miles west of Austin. Five courses serve the San Angelo area in the limestone and caliche terrain of the Concho River basin at roughly 1,800 feet elevation.
