Golf in Avalon

Avalon is the main settlement and the only incorporated city on Santa Catalina Island, in Los Angeles County approximately 22 miles off the coast of San Pedro. The city occupies a small bay area on the eastern side of the island, with the hillside terrain rising behind the compact town center. Los Angeles County's Catalina Island communities are reachable only by ferry or small aircraft, and Avalon has a tourism-dependent economy with lodging, restaurants, and shops serving visitors who come for the island's natural setting. The Catalina Casino, a large round ballroom structure, is the most prominent building in the harbor area. The interior of the island is managed by the Catalina Island Conservancy and is largely undeveloped.
