Golf in Wawona

Wawona is a small community within Yosemite National Park in Mariposa County, on the South Fork of the Merced River at roughly 4,000 feet elevation. The community serves as the main entry point for visitors arriving from the southern approach to Yosemite via Highway 41 and includes a small cluster of lodging and park facilities. Mariposa County extends across a substantial portion of the Sierra Nevada foothills and mountain terrain, with Wawona sitting well within the park boundaries. The surrounding area consists of mixed conifer forest, granite formations, and the river corridor carved by the South Fork Merced. The Mariposa Grove, a stand of giant sequoias, lies a few miles southeast of Wawona and draws visitors to the southern portion of the park. Year-round visitation is common at this part of Yosemite, though winter conditions can bring road closures on higher mountain sections above the valley floor.
