Westlake Village is an incorporated city straddling the Los Angeles and Ventura county line, in the Conejo Valley area along US Highway 101. The Ventura County portion of the city occupies part of a planned residential community centered on Westlake Lake, an artificial lake that forms the focal point of the development. Ventura County's western communities, including the Westlake Village area, are part of the Conejo Valley suburban zone that connects to the Los Angeles region via Highway 101. The community is primarily residential with commercial areas along the main arterials. Westlake Lake and surrounding parkways provide recreation within the planned community. The broader Westlake Village area straddles the county line, with the Los Angeles County portion including the main business park and commercial district along Agoura Road.
