Golf in Childress

Childress is the county seat of Childress County in the northwest Texas plains, a small agricultural community at the junction of US 287 and US 83. The city serves as a regional center for the red clay country of the Texas northwest plains, where cotton and grain farming and ranching define the economy. Childress County is at the edge of the northwest Texas plains near the Red River drainage, with gently varied terrain and the characteristic red clay soils of this part of Texas. The community is on the main route from Amarillo to Wichita Falls and serves a regional population across several counties. Lake Childress provides some recreation for the county. One course serves the Childress community in the open plains terrain of northwest Texas.
